Position: Application VB.NET Development Analyst
Location: Woodbridge, NJ

 SUMMARY OF POSITION:

A leading global independent energy company, engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, as well as in refining and in marketing refined petroleum products, natural gas, and electricity.

This position provides support and development for the retail and wholesale Natural Gas and Electricity reporting and datamart systems.  The incumbent will participate in the analysis, design, testing and implementation of computer-based reporting systems, and will conduct problem analysis and resolution on reporting applications, reports, as well as databases/datamarts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

This role will be responsible for converting the reporting functionality of applications to the .NET framework and design, coding, performing QA, testing and implementing new reporting front ends. There is some interface development work involved also.

*Business Analysis (50%):

- Works closely with the Energy Marketing business to analyze existing business processes and identify key reporting requirements.

- Works in close conjunction with the Enterprise Architecture (data warehouse/data marts) group regarding reporting requirements.

 * Application Development (50%):

- Documents business and technical requirements, along with developing design specifications, test plans, and use cases for business requirements.

- Uses application development tools in an enterprise environment. Employs the full development lifecycle to design and aid in the development and support of web-based and client-based information systems as required by the Energy Marketing business group.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline required.

* Minimum of 3 years’ work experience required.

* Skill sets required:

- Experience with Crystal Reports (version 8.5 or higher)

                        - Experience with Visual Basic.Net 2005

                        - Experience with SQL Server 2005, SSIS, T-SQL, Stored Procedure development

* Experience creating and supporting applications in a Windows XP desktop environment, using development tools such as VB.NET, .NET Framework 2.0 and Visual Source Safe.

* Strong SQL and relational database skills, using SQL Server 2005.

* Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with all levels of business users and management.

* Analytical skills, which have been demonstrated in a business environment.

* Must be able to take the initiative and work independently as well as part of a team for multi-person development projects.

* Knowledge of natural gas business and operations a plus.

* Knowledge of datamart/data warehouse architecture and design principals a plus.

* Experience using MS Reporting services or Cognos Studio 8 a plus.
