POSITION: Application VB.NET Development Analyst

BUSINESS UNIT: Energy Marketing Systems. Marketing, Refining and Corporate IT  

SUMMARY: A leading global independent energy company, engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, as well as in refining and in marketing refined petroleum products, natural gas, and electricity.

The Application Development Analyst will participate as an active team member in the design, development, implementation, and support of both custom and vendor based applications for the Energy Marketing business, in particular Wholesale and Retail Electricity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 *Using the .NET Enterprise environment and standardized methodologies: design, develop and support information systems and a diverse portfolio of applications for Energy Marketing.

- The initial focus of this role is on the Proposal Management System currently being developed for Retail Electricity.  As this system is turned over to our client, this role will support the Proposal Management System and its interfaces going forward by revising as required in support of business needs.

-  The role will branch out into support and development of other Wholesale Electricity systems (eg Endur, nMarket) in time also.

-  The role will work closely with a Business Analyst for the Retail Electricity group and will take the  business and technical requirements and turn them in reality in our systems. 

*Evaluate and, as appropriate, implement new technology that would improve service delivery and capabilities to the Energy Marketing customer base. 

*Work with SQL Server databases in support of both custom and vendor based applications.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* BS in Computer Science/related discipline required.

* At least 2 years work experience required.

* VB.NET and ASP.NET 2.0 working knowledge is essential, as is an understanding of object oriented programming principles.

* Experience with creating and supporting applications in a Windows 2005/XP desktop environment, and experience with IIS 6.0, XML, Web Services, Reporting Services, Excel VBA, SQL Server, DTS and SSIS is required.

* Experience with AJAX, Crystal Reports 8.0, Biztalk and Cognos a plus.

* Good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with all levels of management and various disciplines.

* Must be able to take the initiative and work independently as well as part of a team for multi-person development projects.
