Position: Application VB.NET Development Associate
Location: New York, NY

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
A leading global independent energy company, engaged in the exploration and production of crude oil and natural gas, as well as in refining and in marketing refined petroleum products, natural gas, and electricity.

 The Application Development Associate is responsible for supporting a highly diverse portfolio of applications and participates in the design and development of web-based technology solutions. The portfolio of applications ranges from oil/gas trading systems, to human resource databases, to treasury systems, to web sites and portals.  The systems employ a wide array of technologies but are generally focused on the Windows environment.

In order to support such a diverse environment, the person occupying this position will need a broad systems background, with strong analytical skills.  The candidate will be responsible for all phases of the systems project lifecycle including design, functional specifications, project management and QA/testing of all development work.

 RESPONSIBILITIES:

•           Using the .NET Enterprise environment, design, develop, and support information systems for the Corporate IS group.

•           Support a highly diverse portfolio of applications including: trading systems, financial & risk management systems, market price databases, and executive information systems.

•           Design and develop web-based reporting for the Executives and other corporate groups.

•           Evaluate and, as appropriate, implement new technology that would allow better access to business information.

•           Employing the full development lifecycle, design and build web-based technology solutions as required by the Corporate IS group.

QUALIFICATIONS:

•           BS in Computer Science/related discipline required.

•           Some experience in programming, including projects and internships.

•           Good interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with all levels of management.

•           Must be able to take the initiative and work independently, as well as part of a team for multi-person development projects.

•           Working knowledge of the .NET Framework and an understanding of object-oriented programming principles are required.

•           Experience with creating and supporting applications in a Windows XP/Vista desktop environment, using SQL Server 2005, .NET, XML Web Services, Visual Studio, Visual SourceSafe, reporting tools such as MSRS, Cognos and/or Crystal Reports and other web-based tools is a plus.
